Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love to read and they love to read their favorites over and over. A new favorite of theirs is a book called Carina Felina by Carmen Agra Deedy. It is a Cuban story similar to the old woman who swallowed a fly.

The items include a blue cat, a green parrot named Pepe, two crabs, an ox, a bridal party and a florist.

It also includes 100 crackers (though I didn’t order that many toy crackers!) We will use these supplies to act out this book and turn it into a kind of reader’s theater.

This activity will make reading and acting fun and exciting for students. They all know the book well and this will take their learning to a new level!
