My Students

The students I work with often meet in small groups to engage in a focused and more personalized curriculum. They love to learn from all sorts of ways, whether it be from reading or to making and working on hands-on projects. We have been focusing a lot on reading, but I would love for the students to engage with literacy in innovative ways that help build stronger connections with their own lives.

We all say reading empowers readers, and I would love my students to become strong readers so they can become strong leaders of the future.

My Project

I provide literacy support in small groups, and we often meet in the back of a classroom. We are very lucky to have the space that we use, but it can sometimes be very difficult to share our work. The whiteboard easel would help students see their ideas written out and provide an opportunity to have visual directions and models. The personal whiteboards would allow us to try out different literacy games, to make literacy something that can be challenging and fun.

Our students benefit strongly from multiple representations of literacy.

Students learn through being involved with their education as much as possible, and having whiteboards and easels will help provide such opportunities, through working with letters on a new medium and through visualizing the material we are working with.
