Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a middle school on Chicago's southwest side. I teach ELA but also offer reading clubs for students who are bookworms, like me. They could have selected any extra-curricular activity and they chose reading!

I have a library in my classroom but it is old and worn and my students are eager, passionate readers looking for new books to explore.

This donation would make such an impact on my library as the titles are hand-selected by my students. The titles include classics but also new graphic novels and topics that suit the needs and interests of my book club members. These incredible books will give even more opportunities for my students to find a special book that they connect to, as they learn and dream alongside these new characters and worlds.
