Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Mrs. Olvera and I am the proud librarian at our school. We service over 470 students in a very low income area. Students look forward to visiting their school library and enjoying reading a great book. It is their home away from home.

It truly makes my heart happy when students are coming into the library on a daily basis because it is their comfort place.

My students are always creating goals for themselves especially when it comes to reading. Because of COVID, many of my students became very behind in reading and not motivated to pick up a book. This new school year has become a goal of mine to get students reading again and always being the best version of themselves. I would like to create a Winter reading celebration for my students by providing hot cocoa and giant games like Jenga, Connect Four and Uno to celebrate their winnings. In our school, we are always finding ways to celebrate our students.

Please help make this Winter Reading celebration become a reality for my students!
