My Project

I am an elementary school English Language Arts and Reading teacher. This means I get to spend each day teaching fourth and fifth-grade readers in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches.

These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways including room transformations, arts-integrated lessons, and project-based learning.

During COVID, our students were confined to Chromebook learning and were not able to interact in person with their peers. But, my students love using hands-on tools, and they are happier when they can work together on projects.

To make our upcoming units more engaging, we are requesting color printer ink. We will create colorful task cards for reading projects and games, and then the students will work in small groups with these cards. These will help students stay focused as they work!

We are also requesting space heaters and fans to keep our room more comfortable as they are learning.

We also need two sets of books that will engage our struggling readers. In addition, we need laminating sheets to use with the task cards we create.
