My Students

As a teacher in a Title I district, my students come from several diverse backgrounds. Living in a small town with with only one school district means that my student's socioeconomic backgrounds range from very low income to very high income. This makes it a little more challenging to meet everyone's needs.

I use positive reinforcement in my classroom in order to focus on the good things my students are doing.

Although some of my students may be extremely different from one another, they are able to show respect for each other when they enter our room.

I want school to be a place where every student feels safe and equally valued no matter what their life at home may be like.

I always tell my students that we are a family and we have to care for one another. When I see them forming new relationships with peers, doing the right thing in difficult situations, or even just helping a neighbor out on a difficult math problem, it makes me proud to be their teacher.

My Project

My students love a cozy place to read. The new area rug and pillows will provide just that! The rug will also double as our morning meeting area. This colorful new rug will really brighten up the whole room.

The new books I am requesting will educate and inspire my students to be leaders.

Reading picture books aloud can have such a positive impact on children, and I plan to read all of these books to my students.

I am also requesting a book cart that will be used in the hallway. Students in our school wait outside the classroom in the morning until the bell rings. Having a book cart stocked up outside my room will provide a perfect chance for my students to get in a little extra reading every day.
