My Students

"Tell me and I'll forget, teach me and I'll remember, involve me and I'll learn." - Ben Franklin Hands-on experiences allow students to grow and develop their own opinions. I want my students to love to read. I want to create experiences that enable them to develop a love for learning.

I am a hard-working, passionate teacher working in a low income area.

I absolutely LOVE my students. They are "my kids." I am about to begin my third year providing special education services to kindergarten students. I always aim to get to know my students both individually and as a community of learners. I love to see how they work independently and in a group. It's amazing to see how much they grow throughout the school year. My school has been opened for 4 years. It is difficult to obtain all of the materials I would love in order to teach more effectively. My goal is to create learning experiences my students will always remember. I want to provide them with tools and resources to enhance their learning experiences and make them want to learn more. It is important that my students are directly involved in the activities going on in the classroom. I love seeing the smiles on their faces when they enjoy a lesson and activity. These are the times that always mean the most to me.

My Project

I am requesting 1 set of alphabet sound tubs and 1 teaching tubs storage rack. My students have more of a positive learning experience when they are able to see, touch, taste, etc. what is being taught. These literacy tubs will allow them to see and touch objects that begin with the letter sound we are focusing on that day. They will be able to sort the objects, describe them, and recognize that all of the objects in the tub begin with the same beginning letter sound. They will use this knowledge when they are participating in follow-up activities and classroom discussions. It will enhance their knowledge of letters and letter sounds and will be the start to their first reading experiences.

Anything donated will improve my classroom.

My students appreciate and use everything they can get their hands on. They are happiest when they are playing and learning at the same time and I am happiest when I get to witness it.
