My students need quality books of high interest and accessible levels to continue their love for reading this next school year! These books are a few of the series that are popular with 2nd graders.
My students are one special bunch! I have had the privilege to not only be their kindergarten teacher and then loop with them to first grade, but now I get to loop with them another year to second grade next year! Our classroom is lively with lots of energy and movement, and it feels like a big class family when you walk in our door.
My students come to school every day eager to learn, and are the biggest bookworms!
Due to the fact that I have looped with them for two years and will now loop with them to second grade as well, I am constantly looking to expand my classroom library to I am submitting this project in order to keep up with their insatiable appetite for reading. We set aside special time every morning and every afternoon for independent reading time and reading with friends, and we also partner with a fourth-grade class for buddy reading frequently. Even though I am constantly purchasing new books, our classroom library is becoming quite limited as my students continue to fly through their reading levels and as their reading interests continue to become more diverse.
My Project
My hope is that this project will help me provide high-quality and engaging literature for the growing readers in my classroom. This project will provide books for students to take home and build fluency and an enjoyment of reading. It will also allow resources in the classroom for guided reading groups.
I want my students to be in control of their future and education, and being a strong and confident reader will absolutely push them forward as they move on to upper-grade level education!
