Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world" ~Nelson Mandela This is what I strive to teach my students everyday. It is not about how much money you make or what kind of car you drive, it's what is inside of you that matters. Chase your dreams and they will be a reality.

I tell my scholars to work hard every day.

With a little faith, trust and a thirst for knowledge, they will go as far as their eyes can see! My students are not just ordinary students, they are scholars. They not only make me smile, but anyone who comes into my room shares the same feelings I have about them. These scholars may not have all the material possessions at home, but when they come to school, they know it will be a warm place, with hot food and a loving environment. They know that their curiosity and their questions will never be turned away, but focused on to make it a reality. My scholars have drive, creativity, passion and endurance. They do not let the stress of standardized tests get in the way of their passion for learning. Everyday they come in with their own questions and opinions, that it makes learning and teaching so much more fun with participation!

My Project

My scholars will be able to stretch their imagination and keep their discussions going with these new leveled books. Everyday, my students come in and are so excited to turn to a new page in their chapter book. It is a chance for them to forget the stresses of the state tests, and focus on history, fantasy, great sword fights and enchanting tales. They learn so much, so fast, it is sometimes hard to keep up with their curiosity! Every year, we have a goal set for reading. We call it "Strive for 25". We want our students to read 25 books, on their own, throughout the year. The books that my students choose for this goal is very important. They don't want to choose just any book, they want a book they can learn from. Some books inspire students to read about the author. Some books help my students learn a new skill. Then, there are those books that whisk them off to a faraway land. These new books and soft seats will help them reach their destination both comfortably and quickly.

Your donation to my classroom will not only reach the students in my classroom this year, but it will reach my future students as well.

These books will make my classroom library come alive with the latest and greatest chapter books. The soft seats will be an incentive to sit and read, wherever they feel comfortable in my classroom. My students won't have to worry if they have enough money to buy a new book, they'll have a full, new library in front of them.
