My Students

My first graders are an enthusiastic bunch of children. They love books; reading, writing, and drawing about books. It is especially noticeable when they all get together on the rug to listen to a great book.

The discussions, comments, and laughter they display after listening to a book allow me to see how they connected to the story.

Their love for books is a joy to see. As soon as I put down the book, a number of them are asking to read it for themselves. I love their eagerness. I hope I can foster it and help them become better readers.

My Project

The pandemic made it difficult for my students to continue learning at home. Many of them have come back this school year as non-readers and writers. Helping me fulfill this project will grant my students the ability to improve their reading and writing skills. The books are based on their current reading levels. The writing journal will help them express themselves, as we explore social-emotional learning. Purchasing resources on Teachers Pay Teachers will allow me to supplement the students with activities to strengthen their academic needs.
