This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand.” This Chinese Proverb along with other sayings is the motivation that was needed for my students to persevere.
My students are a great energetic bunch of eager learners ready to accept the daily challenges of the learning environment.
Our school is an inner-city school located in South Florida. We are a diverse low income community. The staff is ready willing and able to handle all obstacles that come our way.
My Project
My students need an iPod to assist them as they comprehend passages in stories. My students will be able to record themselves after listening or reading a story. Students will also be able to give adequate feedback after listening to appropriate stories. As students are actively involved in directing their learning they will declare ownership and become more involved. Students will work in teams of three. Additionally, students will be able to increase their vocabulary skills and have more accessibility with part II of this project due to the additional technology requested.
By supporting "Read to Me! I Podcast to You Part II" my students will be able to develop verbal skills and increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills that they struggle with due to being Second Language Learners. This project will motivate my students and give them an added sense of learning through innovative technology.
I have requested an iPod, a smudge-proof shield, and a case.
My students need hands on learning through technology, such as an iPod and accessories for it, in order to enhance their comprehension and vocabulary skills as Second Language Learners.
