My Students

My students are so unique in their own special way. My students in my class come from a very rough part in Brooklyn. Despite the many challenges they face everyday, they come to school I can see the joy in their faces.

My students are very happy kids who love having a great time and learn new things.

They enjoy reading, dancing, singing, exploring their environment, and going on fun trips. Most of students live in single family homes or foster care. I try my best to make every moment count within the classroom. Together we are learning its the small things that count the most and make the biggest difference.

My Project

My students have been learning to read in since September. However, it is very hard for my students to move up levels because of the lack of books in our classroom.

I am asking for a variety of leveled books including a Science Vocabulary Readers Set; a copy of The Intensive Phonological Awareness (IPA) Program; a set of Phonemic Awareness in Young Children Classroom Curriculum; a Level C Little Leveled Readers Set; the Scholastic Little Leveled Readers Learn to Read Preschool Kindergarten First Grade Children's Book Lot and a Level D Little Leveled Readers Set.

With these new books my students will have the opportunity to learn and apply reading strategies. They will also have the opportunity move up reading levels. Last, but not least, they will get new book to fill up their traveling book baggies. Inside these book baggies, I try to put "just right books". Students will have the opportunity to read at school and bring those books home to read as well.
