My Project

Our Reading Workshop aims to create a cozy, motivating, and fun environment that fosters a love for reading while improving students’ Lexile levels. Many learners struggle with reading because they see it as a chore rather than an enjoyable experience. By transforming our classroom into a comfortable and engaging reading space, students will feel more motivated to explore books, practice reading strategies, and build confidence in their literacy skills. Snacks will be provided as needed.

To achieve this, we will incorporate comfortable seating options such as bean bags and a reading carpet to encourage relaxation while reading.

A classroom library display will showcase student-recommended e-books from Reading Plus and Achieve3000, making reading choices more meaningful. Engaging activities like Reading Bingo, Book Talks, and Interactive Read-Alouds will create excitement and promote peer discussions about books. Additionally, the STARrific Jar reward system will recognize students’ efforts, reinforcing positive reading habits.

By fostering an inviting atmosphere, we empower students to see reading as a lifelong skill rather than just an academic requirement. With access to a structured yet enjoyable reading space and foods and snacks to nourish them, students will be more motivated to develop stronger comprehension skills, increase their Lexile scores, and cultivate a genuine love for literature.

Through this project, we hope to inspire students to Read, Relax, and Rise!
