Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in inner city Los Angeles. Our school services students that have extremely diverse backgrounds and have had very different experiences. Our students are also considered to have a very low socio-economic level. Yet we are a very united and spirited school that is always looking for ways to encourage our students love for learning, and help them achieve their best.

My students are curious and eager to learn.

They love to ask questions and get more information. Though the questions might not be content related, my students are always looking for opportunities to grow.

My Project

Literacy is the foundation of all education. Books are the door to literacy. For most of my students school can be the only place where literacy is encouraged.

A wide range of books is necessary to captivate students' interest and have them fall in love with reading.

The books in this project can be used to address different areas and reading levels my students need. I have selected books that are for read alouds, as well as books for students to read independently. Some of the books focus on social emotional learning. Other books focus on math. All the books will help my students improve my students literacy skills.
