Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 74% of the students are Hispanic and are learning the English language.

My students are eager to learn and I want them to have the tools to help that happen!

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors(including the pandemic), my students are not currently working on their grade level. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning math because it is difficult for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack number sense and the basic skills. The lack of resources and structure during the Covid-19 quarantine also did not help my students.

My Project

I would love to use these materials with my math groups. The various Math literature, especially the Bilingual Math books, would be a wonderful resource to have my students use to strengthen their reading fluency and Math skills. The book sets, such as the Fraction and General Math Book Sets, are engaging resources that I can use to make the math skills relevant and relate them to real-life situations. The other items, such as the fidget sensory items and the emoji keychains, will be great incentives that my students can work towards earning, and also help with my fidgety students. Items such as these are perfect for motivating students to participate and engage in the activities. All of these resources will help my students be successful in Math.
