This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's the year of the Dragon! We need to read to our Dragon Reading Buddies! Let us explore "Lunar New Year” or “Chinese New Year” with enjoyable reading of books that celebrate Chinese culture.

These items will help us learn how this important holiday is celebrated.

We will enjoy Chinese fairy-tales and fictional stories while we explore Lunar New year through the adventures of these beloved characters. Children will be able to listen to the books together and re-read over and over to build fluency. Oh and we will be able to create Dragon Reading Buddies! The children will also be able to create their very own Dragon reading buddies that they can share our Lunar New Year books with! These items will also help expand our culturally diverse library, enabling students to share their favorite Lunar New year stories with friends and family!

This celebration will culminate in creating and sharing fortunes in school. Thank you for enabling us to share the joys of the Year of the Dragon, Lunar New Year!
