Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students live in the community of South Los Angeles. They attend KIPP Vida Prep. These students are caring, loving, and deserve nothing but the best. Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. More than 40% of our students are ELL who struggle in reading at their grade level. Many of my students are reading below grade level and these books will allow them to have choice in the books that they read independently. Reading at grade level is always so important and in order for students to read at their reading level there needs to be a variety of books available to help with that goal.

My Project

My students need and want books that they are able to take home. These books will help them continue their love for reading by giving them books on their reading level.

Every day students are asked to read at home but many students do not have books in their homes and the library is far for some parents.

Most of my students finish their books quickly and their book options are very limited.

If you fund our project every student in my class will have the opportunity to take books home to read and will have a greater variety of books at their disposal.
