Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are unique in so many ways. They have different learning styles, different cultures and many even speak different languages. No matter the where, they come from they all have something in common. They attend a community school so they can learn.

So much of what my students need to learn is shaped by reading.

It is extremely important that they have access to books that reflect their identity, their languages, and their culture. When students are able to read books that they see themselves in, they are more interested in reading. When they are interested in reading, they engage in reading. Engaging in reading is learning. When students learn to love reading, they will find a lifetime of learning.
