My Students

There is so much untouched potential in our school. The students who are reached at our school in the heart of Old Louisville have overcome adversity, loss, and setbacks. They have every right to use excuses and come to school each day with complaints about hardships. This just doesn't happen with our students. They are truly amazing children.

Racial equity and access to learning material are key!

My students come to me with all different backgrounds, interests, and reading levels.

Some of the students here rely on school-funded programs for food and shelter. A portion of the population also resides in a shelter. With that said, each and every student is eager and ready to learn and reach their full potential.

My Project

This project was written to help gain some extra books in our racialy inclusive classroom. All students should be able to find themselves in some of the books in their classroom. These books will also help us provide texts for students with a variety of reading levels to support everyone's reading journal.

We will use the Teachers Pay Teachers resources to help gain some awesome resources to support our new and old classroom books.

We will implement a new classroom reward system for when you're caught being a good reader. When students are caught being a good reader they will have a chance to get a capsule from our new vending machine. The capsules will have different notes in them for various prizes like bookmarks, books, pencils, or extra free time. This project will encourage great reading skills!
