My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and many face struggles and challenges on a daily basis. Included in their daily challenges are often times financial struggles. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch every school day.

My goal is to make the classroom a fun and welcoming environment where they can learn and grow regardless of what goes on outside of school.

Even with what these kids face on a daily basis, they come to school with a positive outlook and a love for learning!

With the income restrictions placed on some of the families that I serve, many of my students do not have access to supplies to help them thrive.

My kids love to play, read, move, and everything else that your average elementary student does in a day. I cannot control what goes on outside of my classroom, but I take pride in what goes on inside of it. I want to make sure that my students strive and that they have what they need to be successful and continue their love of learning.

My Project

I am looking forward to this project because I am requesting picture books and some chapter books to allow my students to read more about famous Americans and diverse characters.

My classroom is filled with students who represent many different backgrounds.

I would like to allow them to be represented on my bookshelves as well. This project will supply my classroom with more books that I will use to read aloud to my students. These include some books that will discuss some social and emotional topics as well as represent more diverse characters.

I am also requesting some books that my students will be able to read about diverse people and women from history who are often underrepresented. I am hoping to open my students' minds as they open these books to learn more about the world around them.
