Help me give my students the opportunity to hear amazing stories! All of these books/stories will help them develop their love of reading along with their reading skills and writing skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching in a low-income inner city community for the past 15 years has been an amazing experience. My students are 3rd and 4th graders and have various degrees of special needs. They are sweet, eager to learn, and have a great spirit that keeps me on my toes. Teaching a special education self-contained classroom is challenging and exciting at the same time.
Seeing the 'lightbulb' go off when it just clicks is extremely rewarding and they are so proud of themselves that they
"GOT IT!"
Knowing they do not get a lot at home and are often responsible for helping with so many chores after school, makes me want to support them so much more at school. I want my students to know that it's ok to need help and to ask for it. That's how we can grow and learn so much more.
My Project
Who does not love listening to a story? Having the children gather around to listen to a story be brought to life is my favorite part of the day. All of these books will be used as a read aloud and again as a mentor text to teach specific skills in reading and writing.
Reading a story aloud also helps develop a child's love of reading.
My students are not read to often at home. Being exposed to all these books on a daily basis will provide them with amazing adventures, role models, build vocabulary, and exemplars for their own writing.
