Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so excited to begin the year and my students love books. The students at my school come from low-income households and they love a good read aloud. We often refer back to characters, themes, and books as we make connections throughout the year.

My Project

Reading aloud models good reading, increases vocabulary, encourages listening comprehension, sparks class discussions, builds shared class experiences, and promotes visualization. Most importantly is helps foster a love for reading and builds connections as students share their connections with literature themes and characters.

My students love being read to during our school day.

I have been a combo teacher for the past few years and I need some new books to present to my class. I often used books as a platform to teach social emotional learning. Reading builds connections as students share their connections with literature themes and characters. I am looking forward to completing a 20 books in 20 days challenge while building my classroom community.
