My Project

During the English Language Arts block, I incorporate center time, where students rotate through various centers focusing on different reading skills. One of the rotations includes working with me on targeted skills in a small group. While I am working with a group, it is important that the other students are engaged in meaningful work in their center. This is why I would like to add a new center to our rotation: a listening center. The listening center will allow students to listen to stories while they are reading along.

A listening center would be highly beneficial to my struggling readers and ELL students.

Listening to spoken language will support development in vocabulary, comprehension, language acquisition, and pronunciation skills. Matching the words on the page with the audio will also help reinforce sight word recognition and phonics skills.
