Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom consists of native Spanish speakers and Spanish learners but we have created a community where we stand by one another and learn as one. We know that learning goes beyond academics but knowing how to respect ourselves, each other and our community.

We are full of character, ambitious and eager to learn.

Distance Learning has not been easy but together we have set expectations, created new norms and made routines to best support our learning and selves during these times. Each day we build we work together to build a strong foundation and bridge between their home and mine. We end each Zoom session with "abrazos" (hugs) and "corazones" (hearts) and the biggest smiles.

My Project

My students are eager readers, exploring each book deeper and deeper. They are currently having turn and talks about characters, settings, beginning, middle and end of different stories. The materials I am requesting will allow them to explore more complex books by listening and following along with a physical book in hand.

My students are bilingual learners and these materials will support them in both languages as they strengthen their comprehension skills.

They will be able to chose a book, listen and follow along with a group of peers then have a discussion about the different parts, their favorite parts etc. What an experience!
