My students need access to age level appropriate reading materials at a reading level that will help them learn English as fast as possible. These Action magazines give engaging content at a perfect reading level.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What would it be like to leave your country and move abroad as a High Schooler? What would it be like to enter a class and have a teacher kindly talking to you- but you have no idea what they are saying? This is the experience of all my students.
I teach at a High School for ESL students in the heart of the Bronx.
A lot of our students move quickly into learning English- even if they struggle with literacy in their home language. Although they enter our school with little to limited English, we join them in their goal of graduating High School in just 4 years. They are hard working and want to make a better future - for themselves, and our city.
My Project
Having Action magazines in my class will allow students to have choice in their reading at a differentiated level that is perfect for them. They will be used in daily reading stations where students will read and report on an article from the magazine. They will also be used by newly arriving students to increase their content/academic vocabulary in many disciplines as they read interesting current articles.
These magazines will make a difference because they give engaging content with language that isn't too complicated for these new English literates.
These magazines will help my classroom engage in daily literacy as my students increase their English skills.
