This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our elementary school celebrates Read Across America every year. This year our school will be celebrating with a live theater production of Charlotte's Web for students and their parents during a family literacy night. The classes that choose to participate in this novel study will be reading the story or the teacher will be reading the story during class time and others during after-school enrichment classes. Students will be learning about the parts of a story from the plot to the characters and build their vocabulary. Students will learn how to discuss the novel as they build on their comprehension.

Our students will be preparing for the show by reading the Charlotte's and then seeing the words come off the pages onto a live-action musical theater production of Charlotte's Web with singing and acting.

This will be the first time for many students to see a live musical. We are excited to bring the arts to our students at our school. We hope that it may inspire a love of reading and theater. This will be a great way to celebrate Read Across America especially where students will be able to own their own copy of Charlotte's Web.
