My Students

The overarching feeling amongst all my students is that they love school, they miss it, and are looking for ways to remain connected to their educational community. Remote learning can make it more difficult to maintain this connection, however technology can provide a bridge between me and my students. The children I work with all have special needs such as autism, intellectual disability and dyslexia. They all live in Brooklyn, NY yet come from a wide range of backgrounds, and live in homes where a myriad of languages are spoken. We celebrate these different backgrounds and are always learning about each other's cultures.

My Project

My students are eager to learn and tell me daily how much they miss school. It simultaneously warms my heart and breaks it, as they must learn from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The way I am able to interact with my students at this point in time is through technology.

Though this is not the most ideal circumstance, it is so important to make the best of the situation and maintain a strong daily connection. A high resolution camera and audio quality is unbelievably important, as my students desperately need to see my face and mouth movements with enhanced clarity due to their individual learning styles. This iPad would provide them with the high quality visual and auditory stimuli that is so integral to their learning process.

I want to do everything possible to ensure these students don't fall behind during these unprecedented times. This IPad would make a huge difference in the quality of lessons they receive. Thank you so much caring!
