Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My extraordinary bilingual family is made up by 25 students! Our school is located the city of Paterson in NJ. The majority of my students are immigrants or born to immigrant parents. Most of my students are experiencing a school environment for the first time. They are very enthusiastic about learning.
Our full-time Spanish bilingual class has a diversity of learners with many different learning abilities and challenges.
Due to the growing number of students throughout the academic year, the students have difficulties with the define space and storage in the classroom.
My Project
In our community, the bilingual students miss out on many projects and activities due to the lack of resources in Spanish. I would like to have my students exploring some of Dr. Seuss books in Spanish during our school celebration for Dr.Seuss' Birthday. I'm requesting copies of El Lorax, El Gato Ensombrerado, and Huevos verdes con jamon. With these books my students will have the opportunity to explore Dr. Seuss in their native language!
By having access to these Dr. Seuss books in Spanish, parents will also have the opportunity to get involved the monthly book report projects.
These books will also have students gain more interest in reading and give my library center more reading appeal.
In addition to the books, I would like students to have the Storage Pockets Charts to give them their own defined storage place to organize their daily utensils and materials. I'm also asking for Expo dry erase markers.
