My Students

We are a class with unique needs, wants, and personalities.

Our class is made up of six intelligent, happy, and enthusiastic twelve year olds, who have little to no verbal communication ability.

Our schools serve all students with autism, in a high need area, with a large range of abilities. All of the students care very much about their education and give 110% in everything they do. The goal of the students is to be able to get a job after school and I want to help them to achieve that goal!

My Project

My students often need information, pictures, and worksheets in color in order to understand it. The ink will be used to print for them since the school does not have a color printer. The students are learning about force and magnets. Unfortunately, they do not currently have magnets to visually see and physically feel how magnets work.

My students learn best with hands on activities.

They enjoy moving throughout the classroom during the day. These activities would give the students the opportunity to get up and do different activities together. This will also help my students to work on their social skills.

An upcoming unit will be geometry. The students will be able to use the build geometry activity in order to build both 2D and 3D shapes. In science, an upcoming unit is weather. They will be able to use the weather instant learning center to better understand the concepts.
