Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ESL students.

They want to learn like all first graders. They have a challenge. Many of their parents do not speak or read English. Yet they still want the best for their children. My school is a Title 1 school in New York. The school provides many of the school supplies the children need.

My Project

Children deserve to learn in a classroom designed for learning. Many of the requested items are classroom supplies. My students also need a lot of visuals and language support to help them reach their goals. The common core requires standards for everyone. We should not let poverty levels get in the way. First grade is a very important grade. Teachers can help children fall in love with learning. My students need classroom borders, a weather calendar and an electric pencil sharpener. I am also asking for a word work kit and a unit to build comprehension for the common core. My students need pencils. My students also need visual images to build their understanding of English.

Learning is for everyone no matter how much it costs.

Learning should not be based on what a school or teacher can afford. Please help me enable my students to do the best that they can do.
