Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

After a year and a half of at home learning, my students were eager to get back into the library to get their hands on new reading material. Other than the public library, which was open on a limited basis; my students don't have a place to get books. The majority of my students come from a low socioeconomic section of the East Los Angeles area. My students are from predominantly Latino backgrounds, and are on the free lunch program. I know my students will love to get their hands on new graphic novels books to help support literacy.

My Project

Help me reach my reluctant readers by placing graphic novels in their hands. Many of my students have unfortunately slid in their reading level because of the pandemic. A high majority of them are not taking on chapter books because they cannot read them. Your donation will help get those readers interested in picking up a book. By providing graphic novels they can slowly dip their feet back into literature, and hopefully increase their fluency in the process. These new and exciting titles will do just that, pulling in those reluctant readers.
