Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from Indio, California where poverty is a major problem. They face great diversity on a daily basis, and all of the students receive free and reduced-price lunches. The classes I advise are made up of special education students from the 9th to 12th grades. They are promoting their own success because they are determined, motivated, creative, confident, experienced, and curious. They are developing real-world skills and digging deep and showing their grit.

Our student entrepreneurs are excited to be part of a group that has the opportunity to learn unique skills to support their transition into the workplace and beyond.

Students are working towards creating an on-campus business. Through this journey, they will create all aspects of the business from the initial business plan, marketing, and more. They will experience life as a business owner. Our class will prepare our students to have not only workplace skills but also teach them how to be innovative young entrepreneurs.

My Project

The assortment of items will offer more opportunities to support our students with disabilities. STEM projects help gross and fine motor skill development. Different items in the cart such as the UNO cards will help develop classroom communication and Emoji dice are a wonderful way to help students develop their writing skills developing cohesive paragraphs. These items will also help support different lessons that teach financial literacy

Special needs students who need multiple modalities of learning are supported by your contribution to this project.

Classroom stations will be supported with more diverse items that allow for creative thinking from all levels of student abilities.
