Do you love to read? Although reading is enjoyed by many people it is not always on our students' list of favorite things to do. Reading is one of the most important foundations a child needs to build to be successful in education!
Energetic and enthusiastic is an understatement when describing my students.
When they enter the room in the morning they are roaring and ready to go. Their enthusiasm to learn drives me to want to give them the best education possible. Although my students are excited to learn it can sometimes be difficult to provide them with stimulating and interesting ways to learn. At the age of five and six my students do not always have the longest attention span. This lack of attention leads me to dedicate my time to finding fun, colorful, and engaging ways to teach reading. Our school is located in a high poverty area which makes funding for the "fun" ways of learning difficult. However, that will not stop us at succeeding!
My Project
My students are itching to get their hands on iPads. With your support of this project I would be able to implement five more iPads in the classroom. This will allow students to continue to practice, enrich their skills, or reinforce skills for those who struggle in class. Whenever someone finishes up their work they will be able to grab an iPad and continue working. This leads to more time engaged and less lag time in class! Of course we also need child proof cases to keep the iPads safe. The addition of the sight word books, leveled readers, and audio books will help my students practice reading without getting frustrated and building upon the previous skills already learned. The CDs will be uploaded onto the iPads so that students can grab an iPad with a book and follow along. How fun is that? Finally, all of the instant learning centers and reading games are easy to set up, colorful and engaging, and allow less prep time! This means more time for me to help those in need!

These materials along with safe chairs for the reading center will help students build on reading skills in a fun and non-stressful way. Without the frustration of learning, students will be more willing to continue to try hard and challenge themselves.
