Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are between the ages of 4 and 5 years of age. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.

This age group requires small group instruction, creative play, visuals, and manipulatives.

Many of these students come to school without the basic foundational skills needed to succeed. Not only academically but social and emotional as well.

Every student learns through different modalities and it is important to provide a rich environment that is a component of the curriculum.

My Project

My students need diversity in books to prepare them for the real world. Diverse books are important because they teach about others.

Race representations in children's picture books have a great impact on the development of racial identity and attitudes and promote respect and empathy for all types of people.

Through these books my students will have the opportunity to learn and reinforce the lessons of diversity through literature. My students will be able to be exposed to diverse books such as "The Colors of Us", "Same, Same but Different" and "All Kinds of Children". These are some of the books I will read in my classroom.
