My Project

Our students at SCPAB are special for many reasons, but chief among them is their resilience in the face of obstacles. Students in our school come from various backgrounds, each presenting unique challenges for students to overcome. Our students have continually attempted to align themselves to greatness, principally in the ways of literacy. Our mission is to create boys that transition to members of society well-suited for success in any area, and we believe that literacy is a key part of that work. Black boys around the nation, and the world, are struggling with literacy rates and test scores. Whereas our school has produced record growth during this school year in reading, we are not exempt from the impact low scores in the education environment can have on our boys. Our project is to fully resource our library with relevant, grade-level material our boys can access whenever needed. As we move toward higher scores, we are realigning ourselves to our core beliefs: reading and literacy. We have set a goal to fill our library with relevant, grade-level material, and we need your help, We are asking for your donation to fund our project to refill our library and help our boys reach their destination of high scores. Together, we can ensure that the 8th grade boys at SCPAB enter high school defeating the stereotypes plaguing their community.
