My Project

Our gifted and talented unit for the fall will be the rainforest. While we could just grow a bean and watch it sprout, let's give the students a chance take home their own enclosed rainforest terrariums.

Each student will create their own rainforest terrarium with a plant to take home and keep.

The slime jars will house the plants. The students will have the choice to plant a seed or start with a small houseplant. Since most house plants come from the rainforest, it will be a great moment to see how the rainforest affects our daily lives.

Not only will we be studying the tropical rainforest, we will also be studying the temperate rainforest as it is a vital part of our climate and world here in Alaska.
