My Project

Our library is a safe haven for everyone. I have students who come to me and quietly, nervously ask if we have any LGBTQ books. Once they see that we have books that reflect their lives, they leave with smiles on their faces and a stack of books in their arms.

These books requested will help students feel seen and valued in our school.

Many of our middle school students are seeking to check out books such as the ones in this project and having books with characters in a their age range is important in helping them relate to the characters and actions in the books.

As a librarian, I want to make sure that I have just as much selection for students looking for LGBTQ books as I do for those looking for any other type of book. Please help us to fill our shelves with books that meet the needs of ALL students.
