My Students

We are a female single-gender school that serves students from 6th to 12th grades. We are located on the Northeast side of Atlanta. Our students typically come from high proverty communities with limited resources.

Our school serves as a second home for our students.

We attempt to provide students with social, academic, and emotional support. Attempting to provide a holistic support for our students, we hope they will be better prepared and equipped to excel academically. In order for our girls to excel academically, we must first meet their basic needs.

My Project

When our students arrive with all of the necessary materials they are more equipped to succeed academically and focus on instruction. Receiving a poncho could alleviate interruptions in the instructional environment, specifically in the morning.

Most of our students do not have rain coats or umbrellas and arrive drenched from the rainy weather.

Just the other day, we had a few girls that arrived with soaked pants and our parent liaison dried their pants in our school dryer. Waiting on their pants to dry made them miss approximately 20 minutes of instructional time.

Providing ponchos to our students will meet their need to stay dry from the inclement weather.
