My Project
Raider Cafe is an on-campus cafe that services our teachers and staff. This unique collaboration between our work-ready students and our Entrepreneurial Students provides real-world hands-on experiences to all of our students.
Our program has been so successful that our current order processing system of google forms and google sheets is not keeping up with our growth.
Our goal is to implement a POS system for our order processing that will eliminate many of the tedious steps that we currently have to follow.
The iPad will be used to run the cafe's ordering system and process all of the orders and prepare the tickets for our team of baristas. The thermal printer will generate the actual drink tickets that the baristas will follow to make each of the drinks.
Once the order has been placed on the new POS system, the order needs to be printed so the Barista can process the order. The thermal printer works with the POS system and will generate an order ticket that the Barista will use to complete the order. Our current system requires a multi-step process to generate drink tickets. The new POS System using the iPad and Thermal Printer will reduce the time it takes to generate a drink ticket substantially.
In many ways our program is providing the same exact experiences if the student was working in the community. These challenging projects provide unlimited opportunities for our students to practice critical thinking, creative problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills. These skills cannot be learned by reading about them. Students need to roll up their sleeves, try, fail, and try again...all in a safe environment.
This POS System upgrade will provide many experiences for our students that future employees will benefit from. Mahalo for your consideration!
