This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember what it's like when you hear the right song at the right time or to change your opinion because of something you heard on the radio? My students are experiencing the power of free speech in their dynamic student-run radio station but need your help to realize their dreams.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and economic conditions and attend our unique charter high school of the arts and multimedia.

Our school encourages creativity, lifelong learning in the arts, and excellence in academic pursuits. Many of the students in the Radio Broadcasting program don't fit into various 'tracks' that characterize many school systems. The career technical orientation provided in the Radio program prepares them for internships and jobs in the entertainment industry. They meet and interview celebrities and people who are key to making the industry grow. They also put on their own shows with artists at the school and with local bands whom they promote on the station.

My Project

We're asking for a projector so that students can learn as a class group from various resources available on the world wide web. Without a projector, students learn in small learning groups huddled around single computers. This works for some assignments but not all. There are times when a movie needs to be shown or other important materials need to be displayed that can't be shared effectively any other way than via a projector.

Having a projector will directly help every class in our Radio Academy every day.

This basic resource is fundamental to running an efficient classroom that keeps up with the daily flow of information and educational resources in today's modern world.
