This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember what it's like when you hear the right song at the right time or change your opinion because of something you heard on the radio? My students are experiencing the power of free speech in their dynamic student run radio station, but they need your help realize all their dreams.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and economic conditions to attend our unique charter high school for performing arts and multimedia.

Our school encourages creativity, lifelong learning in the Arts, and excellence in academic pursuits. Many of the students in the Radio Broadcasting program don't fit into various 'tracks' that characterize many school systems. The career technical orientation provided in the Radio program prepares them for internships and jobs in the entertainment industry. They meet and interview celebrities and people who are key to making the industry grow. They also put on their own shows with artists at the school and with local bands whom they promote on their radio shows.

My Project

We're asking for a television so that visitors to the station and students in the Radio Academy can get a taste of what the Radio Academy represents. By showing a continuous stream of photos and videos, people will be able to see the events and community that has brought the station a good reputation. By attaching an Apple TV unit to the TV, we will be able to stream iTunes and our radio station programming. Students will easily see how effective their shows are because they will always be playing.

The radio station has grown in leaps and bounds in the last two years but now needs to find ways to represent itself.

A TV is an excellent way to play and show the lively elements that make the station a community resource enjoyed by hundreds of people daily.
