My Students

My 4th and 5th grade drama club meets once every seven days. They are about to learn what it is like to work as an ensemble and bring a story to life by being actors and storytellers. I look forward to their learning adventure and am excited to see how creative they can be.

Most of my drama club students have never seen a live performance before.

Most of them come from low income families, with parents that work more hours than there are in the day. They yearn for experiences that they have never had and have only heard about. My school is amazing in that we try to offer as many clubs as possible so that students can learn to express themselves in many different ways. Whether it be a yoga club or an old movie club, we hope to bring a smile to our students' faces by introducing them to something new.

My Project

My drama club will be performing a short musical this year. Being that none of them have any real acting or stage experience, what better way to teach them than to let them see a real Broadway stage in person? They will be learning how to work as an ensemble and how the stage can be a magical place. I would love for them to see a stage in action, besides their own auditorium stage, so that they can have a real life experience about what it's all about. I believe that this Radio City Music Hall Stage Tour will aid in their work on stage.

This field trip will give my students an experience that they have never had.

This will be something that they will remember forever. They will be able to say, nicely and proudly, that they have had a personal tour of a Broadway stage and have personally learned from entertainers at Radio City Music Hall.
