My Students

A great book can change a child's life forever. Falling into a good book is an unforgettable experience for a child.

My students are in 4th grade and attend school in NYC at a title I school.

My students are eager to learn and love to read. However we are often lacking books that are at their reading level. We use the guided reading system to level our classroom library. This allows children to pick books that are just right for them.

My Project

Having books at the right level will allow for the children in my class to have more opportunities to find books that meet their interests. It is important to foster a love of reading and learning in all students. Children need choice in order to find out what they are interested in and build on their knowledge.

These books will help to build our leveled library.

This will help the students in my class this year and in years to come. Book choice encourages children to continue to read and to build their sense of ownership over their own learning. Please help us in our quest to read more and explore new authors.
