Rad Women Change the World
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My Students
Creative, kind, tenacious, smart...these are all words I would use to describe our class. I have been teaching for ten years, and I can truly say that this is a class of LEARNERS: children who are hungry to find out how things work and why, who choose to read books and write stories during free time, who work together to solve problems and offer each other assistance without being prompted.
These are the kiddos who are becoming the movers and shakers of the next generation.
My Project
In our room, we are readers, writers, scientists, community members, activists, and much, much more! One of our major projects of the school year is to research women who changed the world and identify their legacy. Students present their ideas to their peers through a platform of their choosing, such as a PowerPoint presentation, a published e-book, or a community action project.
I am looking for funding to build a class library of books about rad women who changed the world. From Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Amelia Earhart to Sacajawea, these amazing third graders will use the books to learn about rebels, rabble-rousers, and activists from the past and present.
The library will be an incredible resource for my students! Whether they are reading about Rachel Carson, the biologist and conservationist whose research helped advance the global environmental movement, or Malala Yousafzai, the youngest-ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize who stood up against the Taliban as an 11-year-old activist, the students will be able to research, ask questions, and form big ideas about women who changed history. The project encompasses reading, writing, technology, history, and civics, and will help guide our learning all year.
Top rated for efficiency and transparency.
