My Students

My students are native speakers of Spanish. Some are born here as first generation students and others come from around the world. I have had students from Venezuela, Colombia, Spain, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico - almost every Spanish speaking country. Some students also come from dual language classes and Spanish is not their first language and their parents do not speak Spanish.

They are rich in culture and experiences.

They are willing to share and help one another be successful in this country.

My Project

Many times students are not aware that there are Hispanics who are very important in our government. Students will not only learn and be inspired by Sonia Sotomayor's life and journey to become a Supreme Court judge but they will also learn about what the Supreme Court judges do. They need to know that they can write to these judges if they have a cause that they need help with in the future. They need to know they are represented in our government and people in our government share their culture, traditions and language. Sonia Sotomayor is a role model, a hero and an inspiration for our students to do their best in school and outside of school. She represents what it means to work for others and live a life of service.
