My Project

My Project

Children need to learn about the world and the people around them early in life.

Failing to teach children the truth at an early age will negatively affect their overall development in all aspects of life. For children to become productive citizens teachers and families must discuss topics such as race, skin color, culture, nationality and religions at school and home. The printer and cameras will help the children to capture the differences in their families, school communities and neighborhood. Everything that I have asked for will be used to help the child understand that we are all different, everything from our religions to our family dynamics.

All of the books have been chosen with my students, their families and the community I served in mind.

The crayons and multi-cultural paper will show my students that they don't belong in a box and they create themselves without thinking that there is no color rayon or paper to match their skin. My students and I have taken the time to look at the dolls and families figures in our block and dramatic play area. It was important to them to have images in the classroom that resembles who they are. Sharing and showing people with different abilities is also apart of teaching diversity. These meaningful donations were all chosen with the students in mind, as we have some students and families that have different abilities themselves.

We live in such a diverse world and it is my goal to help to teach and raise up a group of children who are not afraid of who they are or those around them. Children who understand that it is okay to be different.
