This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My scholars are excited about learning and enjoy participating in school activities. They live in a city that is challenged by poverty and crime. Yet, they are inspiring, resilient and deserve the best of every educational opportunity. Oftentimes, school is the most significant and positive part of their day. They are supportive and encouraging to one another and like opportunities to work and present their work in class. Their daily mantra is: "Good, better, best. Never let it rest, until your good becomes better and your better becomes best!"
My Project
My scholars enjoy moving away from their desks to complete assignments and work on projects. This carpet will allow them a clean, cozy space in our room to work together, or independently. Oftentimes students get bored and stagnant while working in a chair and at a hard surface desk. Allowing them opportunity to move away from their desks and sit will help them to rejuvenate and get their creative juices flowing as they think through their assignments. Students will look forward to transitioning times when they can move around. This will be a "cool spot" and help motivate them to complete work.
