My Students

The students at our school are constantly working toward being stewards of our watershed, empowered decision makers, historians and conscientious community members. We are located in south-central Montana, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We are an active, artsy, outdoorsy and environmentally aware community. Being engaged with our "backyard" keeps us connected to our community.

Our daily goal is to explore learning through personal experience.

My Project

Students need free access to books honoring the origins or ancestry of peoples from the Far East, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. Requested here are titles that will help develop our library to represent life outside of Montana. Exposure to this literature with help foster a world view and acceptance of human diversity. Creating visibility and the opportunity to experience quality literature will foster awareness of the Asian American experience.

Justice Sotomayor states: "The only way to stop discrimination based on race is to talk openly and candidly on the subject of race..."

Simply said, race matters. Building empathy and honoring the variety of cultures in our world can be experienced through quality literature. Celebrating the Asian Heritage is one of our library's cultural goals.
