My Project

I'm reaching out to you today with an exciting project that will benefit students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) while also giving back to our community.

Our students with ASD often thrive with hands-on, creative activities that provide sensory input, promote fine motor skills, and foster a sense of accomplishment.

Quilting offers a wonderful opportunity to address these needs while also teaching valuable life skills and encouraging collaboration.

This project, Quilts for Community Care, will provide our students with the opportunity to:

Develop Fine Motor Skills: The intricate movements involved in cutting fabric, sewing, and piecing quilts will help improve their dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Enhance Sensory Integration: The textures of different fabrics provide valuable sensory input.

Foster Creativity and Self-Expression: Choosing fabrics, designing patterns, and creating unique quilts allows students to express themselves creatively and build confidence.

Promote Social Interaction and Collaboration: Working together on quilting projects encourages teamwork, communication, and social interaction in a supportive environment.

Giving back to the community the completed quilts will be donated by our school as we move buildings to promote school community to Lollypop Farms - a local animal shelter, and to the Open Door Mission, a local homeless relief organization in our hometown. This project will provide our students with a tangible way to make a positive impact.

To make this project a reality, we need your help. We are requesting funding through to purchase the following essential supplies:

Fabric: A variety of colorful and textured fabrics will provide students with creative options and sensory stimulation.

Quilting Tools: Rotary cutters, cutting mats, rulers, and scissors are essential for precise fabric cutting.

By supporting this project, you are not only helping our students develop valuable skills but also empowering them to contribute to their community.
