This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a Social Worker at a middle school located in the heart of the South Bronx seeking funding for water bottles to distribute to students. We are fortunate at our school to have filtered cold water fountains yet most of our students do not have water bottles to fill causing them to leave the classroom for frequent trips to stay hydrated.

Hydration is a key factor in staying alert and healthy.

When students are dehydrated they become fatigued and less focused on academics. Some students attempt to combat this problem by making frequent trips to the water fountain causing them to miss out on classroom instruction.

By having a supply of water bottles to distribute to my students and water bottle stickers to decorate them making them personally identifiable, my students will stay hydrated especially as the weather continues to get warmer outside.
